Our website server uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption in order to provide a layer of protection on all forms that require information be entered on our web pages.  Donations to AdoptaPlatoon using credit card via Pay Pal are made under encryption. Pay Pal is a standard transaction partner. Credit card information is not stored by AdoptaPlatoon and all measures are taken to protect personal information.

 

AdoptaPlatoon extends the opportunity to Americans to reach out and personally support U.S. deployed Troops as an AdoptaPlatoon (AAP) Troop “Volunteer” Supporter. All measures are taken to protect the identity and personal information of every volunteer who signs up on the AAP website. All measures are taken to protect identify and personal information on those who submit an application via the AdoptaPlatoon website for the purpose of becoming an AdoptaPlatoon Volunteer Supporter. All personal and contact information provided to AAP for the Volunteer Supporter program is not sold, rented or shared with other organizations. Persons who supply us with their telephone numbers on-line (application process) will receive a telephone contact call from us. Accepting our call for verification purposes and program approval is necessary to participate in the AdoptaPlatoon volunteer program supporting U.S. Troops. This is made absolutely clear in program participation information on the website. If you do not wish to receive such telephone calls, please do not sign up for the AAP volunteer Troop support program on the AAP website.

 

Persons who supply us with their telephone numbers on-line requesting contact from us are contacted but only at the person’s request. AdoptaPlatoon does not conduct telemarketing. Unsolicitous calls are not allowed or conducted by AdoptaPlatoon.  Should anyone feel that an unsolicited call is placed by AdoptaPlatoon, they may alert us by calling or writing to the contact information given above.

 

Cookies are not used to collect information from people visiting the AdoptaPlatoon website.

We also do not collect e-mail addresses of visitors who post messages to any bulletin boards, the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail, the e-mail addresses of those who make postings to chat areas, or our Facebook.  The website information collected is obtained when visitors sign up to be considered as a volunteer supporter. We use a reliable and highly secure hosting service for database storage purposes for all volunteer supporters’ private information. Information is specifically provided to all approved volunteer supporters so that they can opt out of the program should they wish to do so. All volunteer supporters are screened for participation purposes, direct phone calls made for verification purposes and they receive periodic emails and program newsletter. All volunteer supporters can opt out of receiving the newsletter simply by alerting us of their preference using specific contact information or by writing to info@adoptaplatoon.org. Information on volunteer supporters is not shared or exchanged with other organizations.  No volunteer supporter information is used other than to properly and appropriately assign them to their volunteer position in support of U.S. deployed Troops. Information granted to us in trust by volunteer supporters would only be disclosed if requested by military command and volunteers are advised of this fact.

 

If anyone requests not to receive e-mail from for all future mailings via email, please use the “unsubscribe” link included in every e-mail we send you or send an unsubscribe request to info@adoptaplatoon.org or contact@adoptaplatoon.org. Email addresses are not sold, exchanged or shared with other programs or third party entities.

 

When you make a donation to AdoptaPlatoon (AAP) on the AAP website (www.adoptaplatoon.org) using a credit card using Pay Pal, the credit card information is transferred under SSL encryption to PayPal, our transaction partner. Information of donors who give to AdoptaPlatoon in this form are not sold, exchanged or shared with fund raising third parties entities. Only a letter of acknowledgment and gratitude is sent to these donors.

 

It is important that AdoptaPlatoon be compliant with all registrations that are appropriate for state charity offices. AdoptaPlatoon conducts fund raising by direct mail and by periodic email campaigns. Nonprofits that engage in fundraising need to register in every state that requires registration. Every state has its own rules, forms, exemptions, procedures, and deadlines. AdoptaPlatoon meets all requirements for registration in all U.S. states including renewal registration and reporting on-going financial reporting requirements.

Other than the volunteer side of AdoptaPlatoon, we are solely dependent on the kindness of donors to fulfill our mission to support U.S. deployed Troops and manage all AdoptaPlatoon programs that meet our mission. AdoptaPlatoon uses direct mail fund raising to provide this program with the necessary funds to operate and meet our Troop support mission. We rent and exchange our direct mail file with other similar programs in order to grow our programs. If a donor requests that their information not be rented or changed, we immediately meet their request. We do not share e-mail addresses for online fundraising.

 

From time to time, we may use donor information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to this form located on our Web site. AdoptaPlatoon notifies donors of these changes and provides the ability to opt out of uses. Information to donors is also provided with each appeal letter and or emails allowing donors to be removed from all mailings.  Upon request we provide donors with access to donation information (e.g., dates on which supporters made donations, amounts and types of donation) that we maintain about them, contact information (e.g., name, address, phone number) that we maintain about them. Upon request we offer donors the ability to have inaccuracies corrected in contact information and donor transaction information. With respect to security: Our online vendors’ qgiv.com and icontact.com have appropriate security measures in place in their physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected.  If you feel that this site is not following its stated information policy, you may contact us at the above addresses or phone number, The DMA’s Committee on Ethical Business Practices at mgoldberger@the-dma.org.  The credit card information for our Website reoccurring / monthly donor program is not stored by AdoptaPlatoon.  SSL technology is the industry standard used to protect personal information on the internet. The AdoptaPlatoon newsletter is not sent to these donors except upon their request.
